Our History

Porter's Wisconsin Inspections was founded in 1993 by Warren Porter and has successfully served THOUSANDS of residential and commercial clients with superior Wisconsin home and building inspection services.

Warren was on the State of Wisconsin's Dept. of Regulation and Licensing committee to assist with the origination of the Standards of Practice exam when Wisconsin rules dictated registration of Home Inspectors in 1998. Warren served as Vice President of the Madison Chapter of the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors at that time and later became education director for several terms.

Warren believe in educating homeowners during an inspection so they become better acquainted with their home. This is to protect their interests by knowing when repairs may be needed or even better by understanding preventive maintenance so repair needs are prevented.

There are very purchases that you will make in your lifetime that are not only worth five, six, or seven figures ~ but can also provide you with a significant return on your investment ~ and residential real estate is one of them. In fact, it may be your most important one.

A home that contains hidden or obvious damage not only affects property value but can also affect your fiscal and physical health down the road.

It is easy to assume that new construction is free of damage or potential dangers, but nothing could be further from the truth. Homes are built by human beings, and human beings are error-prone. It's just a fact. Even the most well-intentioned contractors make mistakes, and it is often only the trained eye of a seasoned home inspector who can catch these issues before they become a much bigger problem.

And when it comes to your purchase of a resale property, your risks may increase if the previous homeowner has not made a significant effort to properly maintain their home based on the findings, advice, and recommendations of industry professionals. Resale properties have been live-in, and that means the habits and lifestyle of the previous homeowner and their family are reflected in the condition of the home in many cases.

But, don't be fooled by properties that look flawless on the surface. Just because a property is attractive on the surface, you need to consider the hidden problems that can only be seen with the trained eye and special instruments used by our inspectors. Missing insulation, hot outlets, attic icing, loss of heating or cooling energy, cracked rafters above and cracked foundations below, improper electrical grounding, water leaks that can lead to mold damage, pest infestations caused by breaches, and so much more can exist in every home no matter its age or value.

Regardless of whether or not you are purchasing new construction or a resale property, it is always in your best interest to hire an experienced, seasoned, trained, and certified home inspector. Our inspectors have the necessary training and expert insight required to help you mitigate and avoid potential nightmares when it comes to considering your next real estate purchase.

We are no longer providing Home Inspections and thank everyone of whom we have worked with. We sincerely hope that our service of Well and Septic Evaluations will provide the Peace of Mind that our Home Inspections provided
